Panama City Beach

This year we went on our annual, and much needed, vacation to Panama City Beach, FL.  We got brave and tried a new hotel this time - the Sandpiper Beacon.  It had things we liked better and things we didn't like as well as the Flamingo.  But for the most part I think everyone wants to go back to Sandpiper again next time.

The perks included a separate bedroom from the living/kitchen area.  So the kids were in their own bedroom and Bobby & I had a bed in the living area.  There was an indoor pool with a lazy river.  Outside there were two more pools, a hot tub and a kiddie pool.  One of the outdoor pools had a two story slide that the kids loved.  Even Amos.  There was also an arcade, ice cream shop, laundry room and Tiki bar on the premises.  The negative is that you could hear the thump & beating of the music from the Tiki bar late into the evening.

Shiloh hated the sand.  Hated the pool.  Hated the kiddie pool.  Hated the waves.  But by the end of the week he really warmed up the sand and would wander around, waving at all of the people around us.  He was good with the pool as long as I was holding him but his favorite was the lazy river.  I would get in a float and he would sit on it in front of me so I could hold onto him.  We'd float around forever before he got tired and ready to move onto something else.

I was the most proud of Amos.  He has a weird quirk about getting wet, especially his head.  He's had meltdowns in the parking of lot of Walmart when we've been caught in rainstorms.  He cries when you pour water on his head to rinse out his shampoo.  But he really made some progress at the beach. He got hit in the face by a wave and laughed!  His head was completely soaked and he didn't want to get out.  We were so surprised.  And even more impressed that he went down the two story slide.

It wouldn't be a trip for the Clark family without illness or drama.  This year it was Hannah's turn to have a double inner/outer infection.  We spent one whole day at Urgent Care and then Target for her prescription.  The doctor said no ear plugs and no underwater swimming but after several days of medicine we let her use ear plugs and go down the slide.  Sammy also caught a cold.  And our last day there, Shiloh got a fever, which lasted until we returned home.

But, we were able to go in shifts to see the new Captain America movie.  And best of all, we were able to meet up with our dear friends from England, the Jobs.  They arrived in PCB as we were leaving so we had lunch with them our last day there.  It was a blessing that the Lord worked it out that we would be able to see them during their trip to America.

Miracle League Park

I have a list of parks that we're slowly working our way through and I'm sure this one is on my list but the kids and I accidentally discovered it while running errands.  It's part of a baseball park that includes a concession stand.  Miracle League Park was designed to be handicap accessible so all the ramps, stairs, etc are nice and wide and there's plenty of room to move around.  All of my kids loved this park and we're looking forward to going back in the summer.

Looking back through these pictures I'm not sure what I was thinking letting Amos leave the house dressed so crazy...maybe I just didn't feel like doing battle that day!

Passover

As you probably know by now, our family doesn't celebrate Easter.  Instead we celebrate the death and resurrection Jesus Christ with the Biblical feast of Passover.  This is the kids favorite holiday that we celebrate in a year and they love to help get everything ready.

I won't go into a lot of detail this time but will just leave you with pictures of our Passover feast this year....

Hannah made the Kharoset this year.

Getting ready...

Amos even enjoyed Passover this year.

Silly Passover selfies....

Next year in Jersusalem!!

For the Love of Reading...

My mom and I have always loved reading.  My desire has always been that at least one of my children would love to read.  Hannah is an excellent reader but I couldn't seem to get her interested in reading outside of school time.  And Sammy just hates reading all together even though he's a descent reader as well.

Within the past few months the kids have found several book series at our local library that they enjoy reading so now it's no longer a chore for them.

Hannah loves the Dear Dumb Diary series and the Critter Club books.

Sammy has read several of the Diary of a Minecraft Zombie books and once, even asked to read for a while after he went to bed.  Yes!!

Amos loves Skippyjon Jones, Splat the Cat, Pete the Cat, Llama Llama and the Pout Pout fish.  He pretty much knows where to find each book on the shelves at the library.

I have read the majority of the Philippa Gregory books but recently discovered there are some new ones that I somehow missed.  So now I'm re-reading some of the older ones to refresh my memory before reading the new ones.

This is now a typical trip to our library...

The Clark's Next Big Adventure

So much for keeping the blog updated this year 😂  The Clark family is embarking on another adventure though and it's too big not to doc...
