Sabbath Rest

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.
On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.
For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
Exodus 20:8

That means that starting about 6:30 Friday evening we turn off the television, the computer and all other worldly distractions.  We eat a delicious supper together, tell Bible stories, play games with the kids and just rest & relax.

Saturday we don't do any chores or cooking (we eat sandwiches and finger foods throughout the day ... don't want you thinking we starve!).  Instead we just enjoy the day of rest that the Lord provided for us.

We love Sabbath!  Here are some of the fun things we did this past Sabbath...

{Lucca, after a little persistent training from his Mama.  He was happier after his meltdown/training session!}

{The evening ended with bath time for all.  Lucca really enjoyed his bath.  Hannah looks grumpy in this pic but she really ended up having fun too...}

Saturday we went on a hike:

White

It's rained a lot lately.  This abundance of rain has helped Hannah's asiatic lilies to bloom (considering if it hadn't been raining I would most likely have forgotten to water them myself.)  Today we noticed that a white one as well as another yellow lily had bloomed overnight.

While I was taking these pictures this scripture came to mind:

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.
"As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55: 8-11

Memorial Day

Memorial Day was spent sleeping late, visiting with my family & eating a delicious supper with the Platt's.  I don't have a lot of photos of our day but I did manage to get a few shots of my dad and my kids.

My Daddy - the Vietnam Veteran

Hannah enjoying some delicious watermelon @ my aunt's house.

Hannah & Lily loved playing together.  Lily is such a cutie pie!

And of course I couldn't forget this handsome fella'.

Yellow

The beautiful yellow Asiatic Lilies that Hannah planted are blooming.  Actually she planted the lilies and we had no idea what color they would be.  So far we've had two red lilies and this yellow one.  We can't wait to see what other colors bloom!!

Hannah is so proud of her flowers.  "Take a picture of me next to my lily!"

Simply beautiful.

Paden's Party

Now I'm going to play catch up...

Cutie-pie Paden, the sweet baby we babysit, turned 1 this past month.  We went to his birthday party the Saturday before we left for Panama (the reason I'm late in posting these pictures!)

It was a lot of fun!  But every thing's a lot of fun when we're around (right?!)  The kids got to look inside a transfer truck.  Hannah was amazed that there was a bed & a mini-fridge right in the cab.  They also played in the sprinkler b/c the pool wasn't ready yet (due to an unfortunate pump incident.)  We enjoyed some delicious food and cupcakes while we watched the birthday boy tear into his presents.

Happy 1st Birthday Paden!!
